El Portal is an early 19th Century farmhouse (mas), renovated and decorated to a high standard, on the edge of Vivès, a sleepy little village situated at the foot of the eastern Pyrénées, close to Céret and Collioure.

Against the backdrop of majestic Mont Canigou, Vivès nestles amongst more gentle, rolling hills covered in vineyards and forests of cork oaks and mediterranean pines. Yet access by car is easy: just 10 minutes from the A9 motorway, 10 minutes from a bathing and boating lake and 25 minutes from the Mediterranean beaches. Our region is full of interesting history, art and music, not forgetting of course the renowned wine trail. With plenty of country tracks around, this is also an ideal setting for rambling, bike rides and many other activities revolving around nature.

At El Portal, you can enjoy the peace and tranquillity in one of our award-winning apartments (total capacity of 9/10 people); each is totally independent with its own entrance and terrace: Albéniz, a large two-bedroomed apartment for 4/5 people, Granados, a one-bedroomed apartment for 2/3 people, and Casals, a studio for 2 people. If you need accommodation for 6 to 7 people, Albéniz and Casals can be combined.
